Fees are payable by the person by whom or on whose behalf building work is being carried out and are charged in two stages-
'Plan fee' which must be accompany the application submitted for approval to the Council
'Inspection fee' which is payable following the first inspection of the work in progress
You should submit the plan fee only with the application. An invoice for the inspection fee will be sent out later should the building work commence.
Note: For certain minor works the plan fee and inspection fee are amalgamated into a single fee payable with the application.
Building Notice
A single fee is payable and the fee must accompany the notice. The fee is equivalent to the aggregate of the plan fee and the inspection fee that would be payable for a corresponding full plans application.
Regularisation Certificate Application
A single fee is payable and the fee must accompany the application. The fee is equivalent to the aggregate of the plan fee and the inspection fee that would be payable for a corresponding full plans application plus an additional 20%.
Notes:
Exemption from fees
If any work is solely for the benefit of a disabled person you should contact the Building Control Department for further information. We will normally require confirmation from the Occupational Therapist as to the nature and extent of such work.
