Armorial Bearings for Magherafelt District Council were designed by Lancaster Herald of Arms and the grant to the Council was made by Letters patent, dated 8th April 1982
The Arms - The shield is divided by way of dancette, and the chief point depicts three Church Spires associated with the town of Magherafelt and in the base a Church bell proper.
The Crest - For the crest upon a helm with a red and gold Wreath on a grassy mount or plough proper between two gold Sheaves of Corn representing the District's link with agriculture.
The Supporters - On the dexter (left side) a Roan Full Faced Horse and on the sinister (right side) a Full Faced Elk, both adorned around the neck with a Moral Crown and holding a spray of three Flax Flowers denoting the association with the local linen industry.
The Motto - "Fide Et Opera" - With Faithfulness and Service
