Disability Action Plan

Under the Disability Discrimination (NI) Order 2006, two new duties took effect from 1 January 2007 which requires public authorities, when carrying out their functions, to:

• promote positive attitudes towards disabled people
• encourage the participation by disabled people in public life.

Subject to these duties, action plans must be submitted to the Equality Commission by 30 June 2007.
