1. Consultation process
The advertisement below relates to consultation for Magherafelt District Council's Local Economic Development strategy 2007-2009. The strategy is in draft form and proposals or comments from businesses, organisations or individuals are welcome. Formal consultation with a number of business organisations has been scheduled.

Consultation on Council's
LOCAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY 2007 -2009
Magherafelt District Council would like to invite interested organisations and individuals to comment and give feedback on its new Local Economic Development Strategy. The Council hopes to draw down funding from the new EU Business Competitiveness Programme based on the needs of the local economy. The new funding themes are: -
§ Business Start
§ Business Development & Infrastructure
§ Tourism & events to promote towns & villages
§ Community Regeneration
Interested organisations can obtain an outline summary of the proposed spending priorities from the Council by contacting Charles Monaghan at the address below or download a copy from the Council's web-site; www.magherafelt.gov.uk .
Magherafelt District Council would like to receive "Indicative Projects" or "Expressions of Interest" from potential applicants. Major projects or programmes of over £50,000 may be considered for a technical assistance grant from the Council. The "Expression of Interest Form" is available on the website.
The closing date for Phase 1 is
15 February 2008.

2. Draft LED Strategy
The draft LED strategy is based on the experiences of previous programmes and on business research and statistics currently available. It has agreed in principle by Council but will be amended where necessary as a result of the consultation exercise.
3. Expression of Interest form
The concept behind the Expression of Interest form is to ascertain if there are any projects in the pipeline that may be eligible to benefit from LED funding.
The Expression of Interest form may be used as an application for Technical Assistance to develop projects.
