Controlling pollution in the Magherafelt area
The Environmental Health department are also responsible for investigating pollution in the Magherafelt area and enforcing the laws created to protect the environment.
A considerable proportion of complaints made to the EH Department relate to noise pollution from industrial, commercial or domestic sources.
In Northern Ireland, a new system of air pollution control arising from industrial sources was introduced in 1998.
