The Junior Starter Centre is a range-based initiative which provides the opportunity for young people to access golf in a welcoming, friendly and fun atmosphere.
The Starter Centre currently runs free group coaching sessions every Friday evening at the range. These sessions are open to boys and girls aged 7-16yrs who are new to the game of golf. During sessions, the children receive coaching led by PGA Professional, Tony Mulholland, and are enrolled on the Golf Foundation Junior Passport Programme. The programme is a comprehensive, progressive, structured scheme designed to help young people learn about playing golf.
The passport covers, putting, short game, long game, playing and the Golfers Code of rules and etiquette. The passport leads the golfer through their early stages offering advice and tips on all to do with golf. The golfers registered with the Junior Starter Centre receive a free passport and certificates on passing each level, providing a record of achievement as they develop their golfing skills and knowledge.
The Starter Centre is also involved in developing the game through the use of Tri-Golf. Many young golfers have had their first taste of the game through Tri-Golf activities at their local primary schools and clubs. Through the use Tri-Golf and its unique equipment, children, get to experience the fun and enjoyment that can be gained from the game of golf. For details of the Starter Centre and Tri-Golf, please contact P.G.A. Professional Tony Mulholland.
