| Civic Amenity Sites Along with the blue and brown bin recycling schemes introduced by the Council they also offer a comprehensive range of recycling facilities at their Civic Amenity Sites in Magherafelt, Maghera, Castledawson and Draperstown. These sites are staffed at all times while open and accept both commercial and domestic waste for both recycling and disposal. All recycling at these sites is free of charge, as is the disposal of domestic waste but there is a charge for the disposal of commercial waste. Opening Times All 4 civic amenity sites have the same opening hours, as listed below. Before visiting any of the sites ensure that they are indeed open as there are different opening times for the summer and winter months. The sites are open at 9am throughout the year and offer late night opening to 9pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between April and September and on Wednesdays between October and March . At all other times they are closed at 5pm. The sites are closed on Sundays. Domestic waste, that is, waste generated at domestic properties, may be disposed of free of charge, at any of the civic amenity sites by the owner or occupier of the property. There is however a charge for the disposal of commercial waste and anyone disposing of commercial waste will be required to pay in advance for the waste that they are about to dump. This charge is set by the amount and type of waste that the individual is disposing of and the type of vehicle. |
