A regular street-cleansing programme takes place throughout the district with 750 tonnes of litter removed from our streets and roads annually.
Fly Tipping
Fly Tipping is the costly, anti-social and environmentally damaging disposal of waste materials, which occurs throughout our district. This practice is illegal and offenders can, if convicted, face substantial fines.
The Council will cleanse fly tipping from public areas, however, landowners have a duty to ensure their property is secure and free of illegally dumped material.
Abandoned Vehicles
The Council is responsible for the removal of abandoned vehicles from public land. In some cases the removal may be delayed if a vehicle is the subject of an insurance claim or criminal investigation. We will remove an abandoned vehicle following the expiry of a 7-day notice, which we attach to each individual vehicle.
