Designed and created in the early 1980's Polepatrick Cemetery Park is a dual purpose facility combining an inter-denominational cemetery for the District along with a beautiful and tranquil environmental park.
Approximately 9 acres, Polepatrick consists of short walks suitable for all abilities and is accessible in most parts of the park. The intricate network of footpaths interweave through a host of different habitats which support a wide range of flora and fauna ranging from natural planted woodland, wet woodland, open water and ponds; to running water, fenland, mown grassland and ornamental flower beds that can be enjoyed by all.
Throughout the Park there are ample summer seats to rest and relax while you enjoy the peace and tranquility of the surroundings. Before continuing on your way, there are also picnic tables available for those who wish to stop a little longer and enjoy some refreshments.
Polepatrick is located on the Castledawson Road, just half a mile from Magherafelt town centre, and is open from 8am to dusk seven days a week all year around. Access to park is free and is the ideal way to relax for a few hours in natural and tranquil surroundings.
